The Cartier heritage
Founded in 1847 by French entrepreneur Louis-François Cartier, the Maison first opened its doors in Paris at 13 Rue de la Paix in 1899. The first Cartier wristwatch was privately commissioned just five years later for a pilot friend of the family, who requested it to tell the time from the skies.
From the turn of the twentieth century, Louis-François’ three grandsons – Louis, Pierre, and Jacques – were responsible for solidifying Cartier into the global Maison we know today. Widely renowned as one of the most high-end jewelers, Cartier now owns and operates stores in over 120 countries on some of the most high-profile streets in the world.
