A year after discontinuing the Nautilus reference 5711, Patek Philippe has brought back the beloved watch for a limited edition run, likely igniting a fever among collectors. Patek is making 170 pieces in a partnership with famed jeweler Tiffany & Co. to celebrate the 170 histories of collaboration between the two brands. The watches will feature a Tiffany blue dial and only be sold in three boutiques in New York, Beverly Hills, and San Francisco.
Back in January 0f 2021, Patek Philippe unexpectedly announced that it would no longer produce the Nautilus 5711, causing prices of pre-owned pieces to soar. The stainless steel model already sold for approximately $30,000, and the cessation of production saw auction prices for the 5711 climb into the six figures. What was a complex process to obtain the watch for all but a few buyers became next to impossible? The 5711 was created in 2006 and quickly became the most popular Patek model among buyers. Like other popular stainless steel models from Rolex and Audemars Piguet, the Nautilus became rare to find new at retail stores, and waiting lists spanned years.
