The Exquisite Attributes of the Rolex Paul Newman Daytona Watch
Every so often a luxury watch comes along that makes passersby stop and stare. One such watch is the Rolex Paul Newman Daytona. From the initial Reference 6239 to other models of this gorgeous watch, each one has its own unique attributes. Read on for further details on this exquisite Rolex watch and see why the Paul Newman Daytona is coveted by many.
The History of the Rolex Paul Newman Daytona
The first Rolex Paul Newman Daytona model, Reference 6239, hit the shelves in the mid-1960’s. This model is the least expensive and most common of all of the Paul Newman varieties. However, since it is the model worn by Paul Newman himself, it’s the watch model most true to form. The stainless steel watch comes in a black or white dial with “Daytona” on it, pump pushers, three-color non-oyster dial, and a caliber 722.
The next model, Reference 6241, has all of the features of the 6239 with the addition of the black acrylic bezel. Due to its rare nature, you’ll be sure to pay much more for this model than the 6239 variety.
The 6262 comes next in the line of the Rolex Paul Newman Daytona options. The exterior is identical to the 6239 but the interior of the watch is where the differences shine. The 6262 has a caliber 727 within it that produces 21,600 beats per hour. This watch was only produced from 1970-1971, so it’s quite rare, to say the least.
The 6264 followed the 6262 and features a signature black bezel. Like the 6262, this watch was only produced for one year, so finding this gem might be a bit difficult if you are a Rolex collector. This model also comes with the caliber 727 and is the last of the models to offer a non-oyster case.
With the next model, the 6265, some changes can easily be noted between this new watch and its predecessors. The 6265 has an oyster case and screw-down pushers with a stainless steel bezel and white and black dial.
The final Rolex Paul Newman Daytona creation is the 6263. This is one of the most exquisite Paul Newman watches and the most expensive. It has a Panda Paul Newman white two-color dial, black acrylic bezel, caliber 727, and screw-down pushers. Due to its rarity, finding a 6263 is a tough challenge and can be a costly purchase if found.
