The new Bell and Ross BR-03 Space Mission is a limited edition of 999 watches with a 41mm black ceramic case and an animated space scene for a dial. A transparent disc printed with Earth and the Moon shows the hours, and a spacecraft shows the minutes. The automatic BR-CAL.325 powers it. Bell & Ross is taking pre-orders now, with delivery planned for mid-November. Explore the full Bell & Ross BR-03 range for more.
This release follows the BR-03 Astro from 2025. Like that watch, it swaps conventional hands for figurative elements. The result looks like a tiny porthole onto space. Here is what to know about the design, the movement, and the pre-order.
What Is the New Bell and Ross BR-03 Space Mission?
It is the second chapter in a new series of limited-edition BR-03 watches. Each one turns the dial into a small animated scene. The first was the BR-03 Astro. This new one moves the focus to a spacecraft leaving Earth.
The case is the familiar BR-03: a square with rounded corners, modeled after an aircraft cockpit instrument. Bell & Ross has made that shape its signature for decades. Our guide to the Bell & Ross square watch explains how the design began.
How the Dial Tells Time
The dial looks unusual, but reading it is simple. It works like a two-hand watch.
- Hours: A transparent rotating disc carries printed images of Earth and the Moon. The Moon points to the hour, much like an hour hand.
- Minutes: A spacecraft travels around the dial. Its nose points to the minute.
- Background: A black aventurine plate sits behind everything. Tiny sparkling specks represent stars.
- Mars: A small red dot marks the planet.
The scene changes as the disc and spacecraft move. You get a slightly different picture every time you check the time.
The Vortex Spacecraft
The spacecraft takes its look from the Vortex, a reusable orbital vehicle concept from Dassault Aviation. Vortex is short for “Véhicule Orbital Réutilisable de Transport et d’Exploration.” The idea is a craft that can launch, fly in space, and land on a runway like an aircraft.
Vortex is a trademark of Dassault Aviation. Bell & Ross uses it here as the inspiration for the minute indicator.
BR-03 Space Mission vs BR-03 Astro
The two watches share a theme, but they work differently.
Astro: Three transparent discs show hours, minutes, and seconds, using Mars, the Moon, and a satellite. They circle a central image of Earth.
Space Mission: The display is simpler. It shows hours and minutes only, with the Moon as the hour marker and a spacecraft as the minute marker. Earth appears as a fixed part of the scene.
Fans of the Astro will recognize the idea. The Space Mission feels more like a two-hand watch with a story.
Case, Movement, and Strap
The case is micro-blasted black ceramic, 41mm wide and 10.6mm thick. Ceramic is tough, lightweight, and highly scratch resistant. The crystal is sapphire with an anti-reflective coating, and water resistance is 100m. Bell & Ross built its name on instrument-style tool watch design, and this case keeps that spirit.
Inside is the BR-CAL.325, an automatic movement based on the Sellita SW330. It runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour and carries a 54-hour power reserve. It shows hours and minutes only. If you are new to this kind of movement, our guide to the automatic watch explains how it winds itself.
Two straps complete the watch. One is black rubber, and the other is a black synthetic fabric. Both use a steel pin buckle with a matte black PVD finish.
