TUDOR continues its partnership with Alinghi Red Bull Racing through two carbon composite additions to the Pelagos line: the time-only Pelagos FXD Alinghi Red Bull Racing Edition and the first-ever Pelagos FXD Chronograph. Both honor the team’s America’s Cup sailing pedigree and mark a notable departure from the military-inspired titanium design of the original FXD.
A New Direction in Case Design
The time-only edition (reference 25707KN) measures 42mm, while the FXD Chronograph (reference 25807KN) measures 43mm. Both feature matte blue dials with contrasting red accents, housed in matte black carbon composite cases. A 120-click bi-directional titanium bezel with carbon inserts tops each model, with a fully luminous 60-minute countdown scale suited to regatta timing.
Movements and Construction
Titanium forms the crown, and on the chronograph, the pushers as well. The time-only model runs on TUDOR’s MT5602 calibre, while the chronograph is driven by the MT5813. Both are COSC-certified Manufacture movements with a 70-hour power reserve operating at 4Hz. The chronograph adds a date display at six o’clock.
Honoring the Alinghi Red Bull Racing Partnership
The collaboration is marked by a small nameplate at 12 o’clock on the rehaut and an engraving on the stainless steel case back. As with the original FXD, both models use fixed strap bars and a one-piece fabric strap with a hook-and-loop closure. At launch, the time-only model was priced at $3,675 and the chronograph at $5,075.
An Evolution of the Pelagos Line
Carbon composite cases and the addition of a chronograph represent the most significant technical development in the Pelagos series to date. The matte blue dial against the dark carbon case, paired with titanium crown and pushers, gives both watches a distinctive look that should appeal to longtime Pelagos enthusiasts and racing fans alike.
