The Breitling Superocean
A pre-owned Breitling Superocean is a chance to own a genuine dive watch icon with nearly seventy years of history. Breitling introduced the Superocean in 1957 as its first diving watch, built for professional and military divers at a time when it offered more water resistance than most rivals. It has since grown into one of the brand’s core collections, spanning purpose-built dive tools and more elegant, vintage-inspired models.
Today the name covers two distinct directions. The modern Superocean is the contemporary dive watch, bold and highly water-resistant, while the Superocean Heritage reinterprets the 1957 original with a mesh bracelet and softer, retro proportions. Both carry Breitling’s chronometer-certified movements.

The Superocean has a deep back catalogue, and much of it is only found on the secondary market. Discontinued case sizes, the deep-rated 2,000m references, earlier Superocean II and Superocean Heritage II generations, titanium versions phased out in 2022, and limited editions including the Kelly Slater collaborations are all pre-owned propositions now.
The Superocean is also one of the most accessible ways into a Swiss dive watch with real credentials. Superocean Models and Sizes
The Superocean splits into two lines, and knowing them apart is the key to choosing the right one.
Superocean (modern). The contemporary dive watch, with a bold dial, a lume-filled square-tipped seconds hand, and high water resistance. Current cases run 36mm, 42mm, 44mm, and 46mm, with earlier generations reaching 48mm and depth ratings up to 2,000m. The 42mm is the most versatile everyday size.
Superocean Heritage. The vintage-styled line launched in 2007, with a ceramic bezel, arrow-shaped hands, and the distinctive mesh bracelet. Case sizes span 36mm to 46mm across generations. Later references use Breitling’s in-house B20 movement, co-developed with Tudor, and the newer B31.
Chronograph references. Both lines include chronograph versions, adding elapsed-time timing to the dive watch base, typically in the larger case sizes.

Vintage references are priced by condition and rarity.

Cases and bracelets are refinished as needed. Every pre-owned Superocean carries our two-year warranty, with service handled directly by our own watchmakers.

What movement does the Superocean Heritage use?
Later Superocean Heritage references use Breitling’s in-house Caliber B20, an automatic movement co-developed with Tudor and based on Tudor’s MT5612, offering around a 70-hour power reserve and COSC chronometer certification. The newest generation introduced the in-house B31 with a longer reserve. Earlier references used ETA or Sellita-based calibres.
Is the Breitling Superocean a good dive watch?
